50054 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: When was Ngā Wai Ngāro the new mental health unit in Palmerston North originally scheduled to become operational, and what is the current revised timeline?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised Ngā Wai Ngāro was originally scheduled to open on 31 December 2024. This was revised to 31 October 2025 due to delays in construction. The formal opening took place on 26 September 2025 and transition from Ward 21 to Ngā Wai Ngāro will occur in November. I am further advised this delay is due to some final remediation requirements that must be completed before the unit can become operational.
