Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Climate Change: How many staff, if any, were employed in the Minister's departments, if any, on 1 July 2024 that worked on greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts, categorised by whether they worked on organisational/corporate emissions reduction or nationwide emissions reduction or both?

Hon Simon Watts: As at 1 July 2024, the Ministry for the Environment had 91 staff employed to work on greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts. This headcount includes permanent, fixed term, and seconded staff. Due to the nature of the work completed by the Ministry around greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts, Ministry staff work cross-functionally on policy and resources at both an organisational and national level.
