Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Climate Change: How many staff, if any, were employed in the Minister's departments, if any, on 1 July 2023 that worked on climate change adaptation, categorised by work on corporate/organisational climate adaptation or national climate change adaptation or both?

Hon Simon Watts: As at 1 July 2023, the Ministry for the Environment had 59 staff employed to work on climate change adaptation. This headcount includes permanent, fixed term, and seconded staff. Due to the nature of the work completed by the Ministry around climate change adaptation, Ministry staff work cross-functionally on policy and resources at both an organisational and national level.
