49920 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much Time off in Lieu, if any, was accrued by employees in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 October 2024?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that they do not keep records of time off in lieu. The Classification Office has advised that no Time Off in Lieu was accrued, and that it typically manages fluctuations in workload and capacity via flexitime and, occasionally, overtime. The New Zealand Lotteries Commission advised that there were 416.17 hours of Time Off in Lieu accrued as at 1 October 2024. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency) have advised that there were 854.47 days of Time Off in Lieu accrued as at 1 October 2024. This was accrued across 3,114 paid staff, amounting to average lieu days per staff member of 0.27. Fire and Emergency advised that this figure does not include alternative holidays accrued on statutory days.
