49917 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What advice, if any, has the Minister received from Oranga Tamariki regarding the duplication of services provided by community organisations through Oranga Tamariki contracts, listed by date received and title?

Hon Karen Chhour: I have received advice through Cabinet paper - Oranga Tamariki Annual Contracting and Children’s System Spend regarding the approach taken by Oranga Tamariki. I also have a weekly Oranga Tamariki Officials meeting to discuss progress on my direction. Contracting decisions are an operational matter and are the responsibility of the Chief Executive of Oranga Tamariki. I gave Oranga Tamariki a clear direction that they provide the right funding to the right services that meet the needs of children that come to the attention of Oranga Tamariki.
