49906 (2024). Hon Dr Deborah Russell to the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology: What specific evidence or data, if any, supports a claim that ending the ban on gene editing and genetic modification will mitigate agricultural emissions?
Hon Judith Collins: The new gene technology regime will enable the development and application of new products that could reduce agricultural emissions. One example is AgResearch's lower-methane HME ryegrass, which has been heavily restricted by the current legislation.
