Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Does the Minister expect to see an increase in poverty and homelessness as a result of the benefit sanctions, if so, what steps, if any, is the Minister and Ministry of Social Development taking to ensure this does not happen?

Hon Louise Upston: No. The Government has a plan to shift more people into work, which is the best way to lift people out of hardship.
