49873 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: What was the "approximately $30 million remaining in the Waste Minimisation Fund (the WMF) for 2024/25" referred to in T2024/1024 specifically allocated to in the 2024/25 year?
Hon Penny Simmonds: The WMF was closed from 1st July 2024 as Investment Priorities were reset to include a broader set of waste streams. Since the WMF was reopened in October 2024 ~$14.7m was awarded to 15 WMF projects in FY 2024/25, projects are supporting the diversion from landfill of organics (7 projects valued at ~$8.2m), plastics (4 projects valued at ~$3.4m), kerbside glass collection (1 project as ~$0.1m) and transfer station upgrades (3 projects at ~$2.9m). The balance is provisionally tagged to proposals undergoing assessment.
