Hon Erica Stanford: The Teaching Council has stated, in its media release announcing that it would be consulting with relevant stakeholders on these proposed changes to the entry requirements for initial teacher education programmes for primary teaching: Given current demographics and forecast volumes of primary school students, we are confident that the impact on the number of future primary teaching graduates from this proposed change will be manageable. I am advised by the Teaching Council that its information on current demographics and forecast volumes of primary school students comes from the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Demand and Supply Planning Tool.
