49857 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What consultation, if any, was carried out with stakeholders regarding the 'Make it Count' maths action plan requiring at least 14 credits in NCEA Level 2 maths for entry in Teacher Training, listed by agency and title?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Teaching Council has indicated that it will be consulting with Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers, the teaching profession and other stakeholders on these proposed changes to the entry requirements for ITE programmes for primary teaching. The Teaching Council has also indicated that its consultation would begin formally later this month.
