49856 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: When, if ever, does the new entry requirements for Teacher Training, requiring at least 14 credits in NCEA Level 2 maths for entry in Teacher Training, announced in the 'Make it Count' maths action plan, come into effect?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Teaching Council has stated that it would be consulting with relevant stakeholders on these proposed changes to the entry requirements for initial teacher education programmes for primary teaching, on the basis that the changes would be effective with approved transitional arrangements from 2025.
