Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Universities: What is the proposed remuneration, if any, broken down by board and title, for crown appointees in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2025-26 financial year?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: As Minister for Universities, I am responsible for making appointments to the governing councils of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and all eight universities. Under Schedule 11, clause 17(1) of the Education and Training Act 2020, the governing councils of universities and wānanga are responsible for determining their fees up to a maximum level I set, in accordance with the Cabinet Fees Framework, as the Minister for Universities. The fees paid to an institution’s governing council are published in the institution’s annual report. The current council fees for the eight universities and two wānanga are as outlined in the attached document.
