49824 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Which organisations, if any, did the Minister, her office, or the Ministry of Social Development consult with regarding the Welfare that Works programme, by name and date?

Hon Louise Upston: Policy proposals were put to New Zealanders at the 2023 general election in the manifesto documents ‘Welfare that Works’ and ‘Reducing Benefit Dependency.’ In addition, MSD advises me it has undertaken targeted engagement with marae, sports clubs and community and volunteering organisations. At this stage, releasing their details is not in the public interest.
