49815 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Why will beneficiaries subject to money management not be able to access hardship assistance, and what options, if any, will remain for these beneficiaries if genuine and urgent expenses arise that cannot be met without hardship assistance?
Hon Louise Upston: Generally, not being able to access hardship assistance is consistent with existing financial sanctions settings. People can apply for an advance payment of benefit for some immediate and essential needs. Money management will only apply to clients’ main benefit (i.e. not supplementary assistance). Beneficiaries subject to money management can apply for hardship assistance again after four weeks and when they have completed an activity to recomply.
