Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 on the action ‘We will monitor and report on health outcomes, system performance and Māori–Crown relationships. We will consider opportunities to develop new policies and address any risks we identify’ under ‘priority area of focus 4: We will monitor health outcomes and the effective functioning of the system’ within ‘Developing the future Ministry of Health: Our strategy and strategic intentions 2022 - 2026’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the quarter April to June 2024, the Ministry of Health developed a strategic monitoring framework to understand system performance and health outcomes over the short, medium and longer-term. A core component of the framework relates to monitoring Māori health outcomes and system performance for Māori - the Hauora Māori Advisory Committee and iwi-Māori partnership boards have critical roles.
