49598 (2024). Hon Willie Jackson to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What is the current level of participants in the Maori trade training programme and what is the forecast over the next 12 months for new enrolments into the programme?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that as at 30 June 2024, 2,690 participants had enrolled on the Māori Trades and Training Fund programme since it began in 2020. Reports from providers indicate that there are currently 1635 participants enrolled and current active programmes are contracted to support an additional 1630 additional enrolments by June 2025 (the end of the current contracted period), bringing the number of forecast enrolments to 4,320. These numbers may change if contracts change or reports from providers are revised.
