49597 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Where has the $20m invested in professional learning and development in structured maths been reprioritised from?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that there are changes being made to the way professional learning and development (PLD) is supported. A system of centrally designed, high-quality PLD aligned to the Government’s education priorities, including maths and pāngarau is being put into place.
As part of these changes, the system of regionally allocated professional learning and development (RAPLD) is being phased out. This enables investment to be shifted towards new PLD initiatives, including the $20 million to support teachers and kaiako to use structured approaches to maths and pāngarau.
