49514 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: Will Industry Skills Boards be responsible for Degree Level Apprenticeships?
Hon Penny Simmonds: No. A degree level apprenticeship would lead to the award of a bachelor’s degree, while Industry Skills Boards will be responsible for qualifications and associated standards up to level 7 (non-degree) on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials framework.
A provider developing a degree level apprenticeship may wish to discuss their plans with a relevant Industry Skills Board to understand how this programme aligns with overall skill needs and existing qualifications in that industry.
