49505 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Vocational Education: What funding decisions, if any, has the Tertiary Education Commission made concerning Transformation Academy during the past 12 months?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised that the Tertiary Education Commission has made the following funding decisions concerning Transformation Academy during the past 12 months: Oct 2024: The TEC advised Transformation Academy that following the assessment of the provided Improvement Plan, it proposed that funding would not be continued for 2025. Dec 2024: Through the funding Right of Response process, The Tertiary Education Commission advised Transformation Academy funding for 2025 was approved with conditions. May 2025: The TEC advised Transformation Academy of its proposal to revoke the remainder of their 2025 funding and to provide a $0 indicative allocation for 2026. This was due to lack of confidence with Transformation Academy’s performance and delivery of suggested interventions as a result of funding conditions attached to the 2025 funding. Jun 2025: The TEC met with Transformation Academy to discuss reconsideration of their funding revocation decision. The Tertiary Education Commission advised Transformation Academy that the decision to revoke funding stands. Sep 2025: Following responses between legal advisors representing The Tertiary Education Commission and Transformation Academy, Transformation Academy was advised that the decision to revoke funding stands.
