49186 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many contractors, if any, were there in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 April 2025?

Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised that the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) had 61 contractors as at 1 April 2025. This total includes contractors for the Ministry for Ethnic Communities. The Department collects detailed information on contractors with a total spend exceeding $10,000 for annually. This count excludes contractors whose total spend was less than $10,000 in the 2024/25 financial year. Office of Film and Literature Classification: I am advised that the Office of Film and Literature Classification had one contractor employed as at 1 April 2025. Lotto New Zealand: I am advised that Lotto New Zealand had 44 contractors employed as at 1 April 2025. Fire and Emergency New Zealand: I am advised that Fire and Emergency New Zealand had 58.8 FTE contractors employed as at 1 April 2025.
