48960 (2025). Celia Wade-Brown to the Minister of Revenue: With regards to the gambling losses incurred by New Zealand residents on offshore online platforms, does the IRD have any information about the split between casino gambling and sport gambling?

Hon Simon Watts: Officials advise that Inland Revenue has GST information for offshore online gambling providers which can be approximately split by sports and racing betting and other types of gambling (online casinos). For the 6 months ended 30 June 2025, $37.9m of GST was returned by offshore online gambling providers and about 10% of this GST ($3.8m) was generated from sports and racing betting.
