48951 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Have potential Crown Facilitators to support for councils developing Water Services Delivery Plans been identified, if so, who nominated them?

Hon Simon Watts: Yes. On 12 August 2025, I notified the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee of my intention to approve a pool of candidates to the role of Crown facilitator or Crown water services specialist for water services delivery plans, if required for deployment to assist councils if required during the period of 19 August 2025 to 30 September 2026 [APH-25-MIN-0154]. The candidates were nominated by the Department of Internal Affairs and appointed by myself as potential candidates under the Local Government (Water Services Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024. None of these candidates have been appointed to assist a specific council or group of councils with their water services delivery plan.
