Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that the information requested would require considerable effort to collate, as it would involve reviewing records across all stations where a small number of young people may have been in custody for very short periods of time. In my view, the time and associated cost in obtaining this information are not justifiable. However, I refer the Member to the attached table which provides the top initial custody stations in which children or young people (aged 17 years or younger) were originally detained and held overnight. This data covers the time period from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025 and includes only those stations that had more than 20 such custodies in the year.
