48776 (2025). Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister of Immigration: Is the Minister aware of any instances where either sponsorship of a visa application, or application for a visa, has happened due to coercion in a family violence situation, and if so, how many?

Hon Erica Stanford: Through the course of my responsibilities as Minister I receive information on individual cases. I do not recall any specific instances of sponsorship of a visa application, or application for a visa, which has happened due to coercion in a family violence situation. However, as I receive a large volume of information across the whole portfolio, it is not possible to confirm if I have received updates on cases that meet this specific criteria, and it is not in the public interest for officials to manually review all updates I have received to determine if I have received such updates.
