48773 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: What advice if any, has the Minister received regarding the impact of deep sea/seabed mining on sustainable Pacific fisheries?

Hon Shane Jones: I have received general advice from my officials about deep sea mining. I am informed that the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission’s Scientific Committee meeting in August 2024 will, for the first time, consider the potential impacts of deep sea mining on tuna fisheries.
