Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that in the last five years (since 01/10/2020), 62,970 requests to withdraw a visa application or sponsorship for a visa application have been granted. I am advised that applicants are not required to provide a reason for withdrawing their application and to report the reasons that have been provided would require substantial collation. This would remove Ministry staff from their core duties and therefore the greater public interest in the effective and efficient administration of the public service would not be served.
