48611 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: How many, if any, caravans imported from Australia in the past 12 months have been flagged as written-off or structurally damaged at the border, and what proportion of those, if any, were subsequently certified for use on New Zealand roads?

Hon Chris Bishop: As trailers and caravans are not subject to border inspection and entry certification, I am advised that NZTA does not hold data on caravans imported from Australia that are flagged as written off or structurally damaged at the border Whilst caravans are not required to undergo border inspection or entry certification, they are subject to a safety inspection through the Warrant of Fitness process.
