48610 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Is the Minister considering any changes to the entry certification process to strengthen safety checks or prohibit the registration of caravans previously written off overseas, and if so, what is the nature of those changes ?

Hon Chris Bishop: No changes to the entry certification process are currently being considered. However, my land transport rules reform work programme includes work to update the vehicle regulatory system to make it more efficient, effective and adaptable. This will include simplifying and refocusing import requirements and streamlining recognition of overseas standard.
