48493 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How many, if any, psychologists work with young people resident in Te au rere a te Tonga who are not participants on the pilot military-style academy, and if any, what are the psychologist's expected contact hours with those residents?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that Te Au rere a te Tonga has one Senior Psychologist role which provides support and leadership for complex cases, and provides regular training, supervision, coaching, and mentoring for kaimahi. Contact hours with residents are as and when required. Te Au rere a te Tonga is serviced by local community forensic mental health services. These services are the primary mental health service for rangatahi in residences. If a rangatahi requires psychological intervention, they access it through these services.
