48490 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What are the types of stem cell transplants, if any, that result in people being waitlisted for the procedure?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by Health New Zealand that people requiring autologous transplants are generally receiving their transplants within the clinically planned time window.
However, for allogeneic transplants waiting times may be longer.
Transplant centres are working together to balance the workload between centres. Work is underway towards increasing the capacity of the three centres that provide both allogeneic and autologous transplants (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) between now and the end of June 2025.
