48438 (2024). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Energy: Does he agree with the statement of the Associate Energy Minister on RNZ on the 8th of August “The Minister of Finance, along with the Minister of Energy, are getting some urgent work done to look at what short term measures can we take, if indeed there are some deeper structural failings in the rules and the regulations governing the energy market?” and if so, what is the work, by title, that is being done here?
Hon Simeon Brown: Recent weeks have shown the vulnerable state that New Zealand’s energy fuel supply has been left in as a result of poor policy choices in recent years. This government is focused on ensuring that the wider energy sector has the confidence to invest in future generation. We are receiving advice on a range of matters to improve energy security of supply in NZ.
