Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Associate Minister for Energy: Does he stand by his statement on RNZ on the 8th of August “Sadly, that organisation [the Electricity Authority] has proven to be a chocolate teapot in regulating the excessive behaviour of the gentailers, who I feel are probably the most powerful economic institutions in New Zealand, beyond the supermarkets and the Aussie banks.” and if so by what evidence is this statement made?

Hon Shane Jones: Yes. The excessive behaviour of the gentailers is evidenced by New Zealand recently having the highest electricity prices in the Western World and gentailers profiting off the backs of New Zealand households, businesses and industries. The chocolate teapot (the Electricity Authority) are failing to regulate the excessive behaviour of the gentailers.
