48389 (2025). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: When MFAT said that it expected New Zealanders involved in the Gaza flotilla to be "treated in a manner consistent with international law", did MFAT include the right to free from arbitrary detention?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The safety of New Zealanders is paramount. During a visit to Israel, New Zealand's Ambassador underlined that we expect any New Zealanders in the flotilla to be treated in a manner consistent with international law. It is not in the public interest to provide further details of those discussions, in order to not prejudice New Zealand's international relations.
