Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 toward the action ‘Identify and action the breast/chestfeeding information and support needs of trans, non-binary, takatāpui and other gender-diverse parents and whānau.Report actions and progress to address gaps to the IYCFC.’ under ‘Outcome 1: Learn how breastfeeding parents and their whānau have equitable access to a range of culturally appropriate breast and infant feeding supports’ within the National Breastfeeding Strategy for Aotearoa?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that Health New Zealand Counties Manukau worked with the Women’s Health Action Gender Diversity leads to update their information and resources to be inclusive of gender-diverse parents and whānau.
The Trans Pregnancy Care research group and their collaborators provided education sessions for health professionals and relevant health entities on inclusive perinatal care.
