48279 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 toward the action ‘Implement policy and training to ensure early childhood education (ECE) centres are breastfeeding friendly.’ under ‘Outcome 7: Learn how workplaces, education and childcare settings support parents and caregivers to reach their breastfeeding goals’ within the National Breastfeeding Strategy for Aotearoa?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the national professional development programme developed by Women’s Health Action and the Heart Foundation has been visually recorded so that the programme can be made available on the Heart Foundation Early Childhood Education (ECE) professional development online platform. Women’s Health Action has also developed a proposal to scope how the programme may be applied in Kohanga Reo settings. I am further advised that the professional development programme has been delivered to over 100 ECE teachers around the country.
