48262 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister of Police: Does the Minister agree with the Mayor of Auckland, that “Auckland CBD, once renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and bustling commerce, is now in the fight for order and control with methamphetamine” and that current initiatives only provide a “band aid to the root cause, which is P”; if not, why not?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I agree with the first quote. The second quote highlights the importance of going after the peddlers of drugs and misery in our communities, gangs. That is why the Government intends to crack down on gangs, not pay them 2.7 million dollars to "fix" a problem they continue to create.
