48226 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: In response to Reply 45823 (2025), what criteria, if any, is the Ministry of Education using to determine whether a subject should be Ministry-led or industry-led?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that subjects are industry-led if they: • relate to a sector/industry where the Industry Skills Board (ISB) is the standard-setting body; and • focus on developing knowledge and skills that help prepare students for working in a specific industry or sector, as opposed to more general knowledge and skills. Subjects are Ministry-led if they: • build on prior teaching and learning that is part of earlier phases of the national curricula • relate to general knowledge and skills.
