Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: What representations, if any, did the Minister receive, between 11 June 2025 and 11 August 2025, about amending section 70 of the Resource Management Act 1991, including from regional councils, industry bodies or other entities or persons; and on what dates were such representations received and from whom, what did they say, and how did the Minister respond?

Hon Chris Bishop: On 19 June 2025, the Chief Executive Officer and Chair of Waikato Regional Council informed me that unless urgent changes were made to section 70 of the RMA, approximately 2,800 Waikato farms would require resource consents for on-farm activities. I responded to WRC outlining that Phase 3 of RMA reform would be a better vehicle for addressing their concerns. I refer the Member to my response to written parliamentary question 48224 (2025).
