Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: What advice, if any, did the Minister receive, between 11 June 2025 and 11 August 2025, from Ministry for the Environment or other officials about amending section 70 of the Resource Management Act 1991, and on what dates was such advice received and from whom, what did it say, and how did the Minister respond?

Hon Chris Bishop: In my capacity as Minister Responsible for RMA Reform, I received the following advice from the Ministry for the Environment on amending section 70 of the Resource Management Act between 11 June 2025 and 11 August 2025: 19 June 2025 - RMA Reform weekly update ending 20 June 2025 1 July 2025 - Briefing Note - BRF-6403 - Waikato Regional Council s70 amendments letter provided me with advice on WRC's concerns regarding the amendments. I responded to WRC outlining that Phase 3 of RMA reform would be a better vehicle for addressing their concerns. 8 August to 11 August 2025 - I received advice from the Ministry for the Environment about further amending section 70 (including amendments relating to suspended sediment) via emails. My response was to make further amendments to section 70 through an amendment paper to RM Bill 2.
