48108 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many staff at Corrections are working in frontline roles, as of 31 July 2024?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections’ recruitment campaign is ongoing and I have been assured that hiring and training frontline staff, who manage approximately 9,800 people in prison and 26,000 people in the community, remains a top priority for Corrections.
I am further advised that as at 31 July 2024, from a total of 10,361.71 FTE frontline roles, 840.86 FTE are unfilled. This figure is not directly comparable with figures that have been provided previously due to improvements in how roles are reported.
This is also my response to WPQ 48109 (2024).
