48059 (2024). Hon David Parker to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: When, if at all, does he plan to announce opportunities for the public to provide submissions on New Zealand’s potential participation in AUKUS Pillar Two, as promised in his TVNZ interview on 1 August 2024?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: We are currently looking at how New Zealand could participate in Pillar II, particularly those areas where New Zealand could make a material contribution. Officials are engaged with Australian, US and UK counterparts to build our understanding of Pillar II. Formal decisions about New Zealand participation would be a matter for Cabinet. The public will be consulted in due course, when this information gathering phase has concluded.
