47554 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Corrections
Written Question

47554 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Corrections: What was the average wait time, if any, for customer service lines, if any, in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as of 1 October 2020?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that within Corrections there are a number of different ways for the public to get in touch with staff, depending on need. Corrections has regional and local contact numbers at different custodial, probation and community sites across the country as well as at their National Office. I am further advised that, with the exception of two Electronic Monitoring (EM) service lines, Corrections does not measure wait times on their public customer service lines so are not able to provide a response to these.
I refer the member to the attached table which contains the average time taken to answer a call on Corrections’ EM customer services telephone lines, on 1 October, for the years 2021 to 2025, broken down by year and EM Operations service team. These telephone lines service predominantly people on an EM sentence or order, for contact purposes, for example, to request an absence or if they have a query regarding the equipment, and are not for the general public.
I am further advised that the system which records wait times for Corrections’ EM service teams was not implemented until July 2021 and therefore data is not available for 1 October 2020.
This is also my response to WPQ 47549 (2025), WPQ 47551 (2025), WPQ 47552 (2025), WPQ 47556 (2025), and WPQ 47561 (2025).
