46897 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Associate Minister of Health: Does the Minister agree with Aged Care Association chief executive Tracey Martin that, without an increase in government funding, aged-care providers would be forced to charge for beds that are currently fully subsidised; if not, why not?
Hon Casey Costello: I agree that there are well-documented challenges and pressures in the aged care sector, including financial pressures. That is why Health New Zealand are undertaking the Aged Care Funding and Service Models Review (the Review). The Review is a key component of the response, and it aims to, over time, improve the sustainability of aged care services and ensure equity of access and outcomes across New Zealand. Phase One of the review is complete. Phase Two of the review began in 2024.
