46889 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Work with HUD and MSD in developing solutions with Kainga Ora, housing providers to improve access to quality, safe and affordable housing with support services, to transition people from inpatient mental health units into the community’ under section 2.5 ‘Oranga hinengaro | People living with mental distress, illness and addictions’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the quarter January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand has continued to work with other agencies regarding options for affordable safe housing for people with mental distress, illness and addiction issues.
This includes Health NZ continuing to implement the Rapua Te Āhuru Mōwai Mental Health Transition pilots in the Auckland and Waikato regions.
