Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Establish national strategic networks in the priority areas of: Oranga hinengaro | People living with mental distress, illness and addictions’ under section 3.1 ‘Transition to transformation’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter , the partnership between Police, addiction and mental health services in Northland has continued to deliver the Te Ara Oranga Programme. The service has been extended to include Te Kapehu, a marae-based methamphetamine programme that is supported within the Hokianga area. I am further advised that initiatives in the Eastern Bay of Plenty became more established during the January to March 2024 quarter. The community team has been recruited and workforce training has been ongoing. Preparation for opening of Te Whare Ora o Kōpūārau in April was underway during this period.
