Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Implement a commissioning policy that embeds excellent commissioning practice across Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora’ under section 3.1 ‘Transition to transformation’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised the new Commissioning operating model was implemented towards the end of December 2023. In the January to March 2024 quarter, work was underway to embed the new model, and to recruit to newly established roles. The new operating model has supported excellence in commissioning practice, with a focus on transformation, including stakeholder engagement commencing on new models for aged care and primary care.
