Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Create and implement actions to deliver national consistency in data and digital capability and solutions across Te Whatu Ora including streamlining duplicate legacy systems inherited from DHBs and Shared Service Agencies, to improve intra-operability and reduce operating costs’ under section 3.7 ‘Strengthening our system enablers’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that national integrated planning is underway to consolidate and/or standardise prioritised core clinical systems. Health New Zealand is looking at how and where these initiatives might be extended and accelerated to drive greater value and impact. Work continues in relation to the initiative incorporating the National Data Platform (NDP). This is a key component towards creating national consistency in data capability. The NDP is a multi-year initiative to unify and standardise health data across the country, reducing duplication and fragmentation. I am also advised that significant progress has been made on cyber security. All districts have been onboarded into the National Security Operations Centre.
