46849 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Deliver the approved capital projects that are underway, taking all practicable measures to ensure that project milestones are met and anticipated benefits realised’ under section 3.7 ‘Strengthening our system enablers’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Health New Zealand is delivering approximately 1,600 capital projects across New Zealand. As at 31 March 2024, 73 of these in-flight projects, valued at $6.451 billion, are over $10 million and/or funded from the Health Capital Envelope.
I receive regularly reporting on these projects, which are progressing through the design and construction phases of delivery. March reporting showed that most projects are on track.
I am further advised that Health NZ is taking practicable measures to ensure that project milestones are met, and anticipated benefits realised. Health NZ is strengthening its functions and processes to enhance the quality and practice of investment advice, monitoring, and reporting.
