46844 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How many, if any, admissions to secure care occurred at Oranga Tamariki's Te Au rere a te Tonga youth justice facility between 1 January and 31 July 2025, and, if any, were all in full compliance with the law?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that there were 173 admissions to secure care at Te Au rere a te Tonga between 1 January and 31 July 2025. These figures represent the number of admissions, not unique individuals. I am advised that in all of these admissions, the decision making process was done in compliance with the law.
