Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 to ‘Embed diverse Pacific voices in decision making across the health system’ under section 4.2 ‘Pacific Health’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand’s Pacific Health Group were collecting patient and family experiences from inpatients using a cultural framework. This information is important to understand how healthcare services can deliver culturally safe and effective services that meet the needs of Pacific people. This trial is part of the Patient Experience Engagement Framework and is currently running across the Northern and Central Regions.
